Florent Maillet
Florent Maillet, who earned a degree in naval engineering from the University of Southampton (UK) in 2011, has a strong background in materials science and naval design, complemented by hands-on experience (such as towing tank and wind tunnel testing) and exposure to international environments.
In 2011, he began his career at Chantier Allais (France), where he gained a practical understanding of industrial challenges, from design through to manufacturing. This experience allowed him to develop hands-on expertise in production tools and aluminum construction processes.
Florent went on to work in international settings, notably at Hall Marine Design (NZ) and then Camarc (UK), where he contributed to the design of high-speed offshore vessels, before joining Cano Lanza Yacht Design (FR) in 2016. At this firm, he has been involved in a variety of projects—including passenger ships, yachts, river vessels, and motorboats—covering all phases of the design process.
His experience also includes complex refit projects, such as that of the M/Y SUNLINER (37 m), as well as the development of innovative solutions, notably the hydrogen-powered prototype HYNOVA, which addresses cutting-edge technical and regulatory challenges.
In 2022, he founded Naval Engineering Services to support design firms and shipyards with a flexible range of naval engineering subcontracting services. With over a hundred projects completed for some fifteen clients, NES has established itself as a trusted solution for meeting the growing demand for subcontracting services.
